Dániel Szász: Loop
The Symptoms
Age limit: 15

"No eloquence could have been so withering to one’s belief in mankind as his final burst of sincerity." (Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness)

In this solo dance piece, Dániel Szász enacts a strange psychoanalytic session without a conductor, in reverse. The ultimate goal is freedom, to get rid of the image others form about us—an image which, ultimately, is something we create ourselves. Seeking the self is rife with unknown perils. The end of the journey may turn out to be the loss of the self. For there is something down there, in the unbridled, barbaric sincerity of instincts, something still holding out the promise of setting us free. But is there a way back to the surface from such depths?

Choreography and performance: Dániel Szász
Light and stage: Attila Szirtes
Costume: Edit Szûcs
Music: Balázs Barna

The performance was created within the framework of Na Cucky Theatre Residency Programme.

Jaewoo Jung: Uninhabited Island
Dance Troupe Braveman

"Humans are lonely animals, and so do I. Recently I have had a terrible experience of loneliness. So strong, I have never felt before. I was feeling alone on an uninhabited island and I was vaguely alive. Why am I on an uninhabited island? I do not know if I came here or someone took me. Are there other people on this island, like me, barely alive and lonely? I still cannot get out of here and I do not even know if I have to wait for someone to come here. The performance aims to illustrate this survival period. It may seem as sad or disturbing or even funny but it is all mine and my life. Humans are lonely animals."

Junior winner of the International Dance Choreography Festival Seul 2017.

Choreography and performance: Jaewoo Jung

Jaewoo Jung is one of South Korea’s most talented young dancers. He dances in the Korean National Contemporary Dance Company since 2016. He graduated last year from the Master of Korean National Art University and already works on his own choreographies.

Bea Egyed: I, feminist

Bluestocking.
Anarchy.
Personality.
Freedom.
